LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier played a key part in LSU’s win over Clemson. Nussmeier didn’t light up the stat sheet, but he took care of the football and came up with key third-down conversions. The LSU QB completed 28/38 passes for 230 yards. Nussmeier tossed a touchdown without throwing a pick.
After some big-name QBs struggled around the country, Nussmeier is now the Heisman favorite. The Clemson defense was tough, but Nussmeier will get a shot to put up big numbers vs. Louisiana Tech this week.
Leaving week one, Nussmeier ranks No. 5 in the SEC in ESPN’s QBR metric.
For those unfamiliar with QBR, ESPN describes it as “Adjusted Total Quarterback Rating, which values the quarterback on all play types on a 0-100 scale adjusted for the strength of opposing defenses faced.”
UGA’s Gunner Stockton was nearly perfect with a 99.1 rating. Jackson Arnold, Taylen Green, and Diego Pavia round out the group, finishing ahead of Nussmeier.
